The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is part of the CERCA system of research centres of the Government of Catalonia and is accredited as an Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria (IIS) by Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII).
It aims to consolidate and strengthen IGTP’s scientific capacities across all areas of activity, while taking into account the current context and the organisation’s expectations and ambitions.
SO1 Opting for a campus model that facilitates the participation and coordination of R+D+I activities between institutions and creates an environment with unique capabilities.
SO2 Promoting the participation of professionals from the HUGTiP in research activities and networking with other organizations in the environment.
SO3 Consolidate collaboration between the research groups of the institutions of the campus, affirm scientific programmes and favour high-impact multidisciplinary projects.
SO4 Strengthen scientific infrastructure and coordinate areas and research groups with a system that permits both the redefinition of the areas and the evaluation of groups.
SO5 Drive the growth of clinical research in the healthcare services of the HUGTiP, developing the Clinical Trials Unit, the processes and the necessary resources.
SO6 Guarantee the management processes for R+D+I, insure the suitability of resources and the provision and functional distribution of floor space.
SO7 Guarantee the application of initiatives that facilitate the promotion, capacitation, training and development of researchers and ensure gender equality.
SO8 Position the IGTP as a reference node for scientific core facilities in the environment and position the CMCiB as a unique national and international facility.
SO9 Strengthen and consolidate the culture of innovation within the institute and actions aimed at supporting the processes of innovation and technology transfer.
SO10 Promote the communications of the IGTP, considering both scientific activity and those that promote participation by society.

In 2024, the IIS IGTP strengthened alliances and promoted translational research across the Can Ruti Campus through institutional initiatives, activities led by its transversal programs and scientific training.

IGTP as an accredited Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria (IIS)
Within the framework of its accreditation as a Centre of Excellence by Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII), IGTP establishes affiliation agreements with research groups from various institutions. These agreements strengthen collaborative research and allow joint strategic planning.
Can Ruti Campus
IGTP is part of the Can Ruti Campus, a biomedical research ecosystem that includes multiple healthcare and research institutions (see the map below). The campus promotes synergies and shared infrastructures to advance translational research.
Including IGTP’s own research groups and affiliated teams from institutions such as Institut Català d’Oncologia (ICO), ISGlobal and Consorci Sanitari del Maresme (CSdM).
